Itinerary
Highlands House
Welcome to Zimbabwe! After a ground transfer from the airport, settle into the Sunshine City at Highlands House in the leafy suburbs of Harare. This evening you’ll have a briefing on your trip with map and coordinates, and receive your vehicle.
Aberfoyle Lodge
Embark on your journey with a 6 hour drive to the eastern border of the country near Mozambique, where the gents first arrived for the filming of One for the Road. After a pit stop at Froggy Farm for pizza lunch, as the crew did, travel one of the country’s most beautiful drives to Honde Valley through mountains, valleys and tea plantations.
Mutarazi Cottages
Breakfast at Aberfoyle, before heading to the now famous photo spot near Wamba Dam where it all began, and settle in to Mutaradzi Cottages. Afternoon with the Far and Wide Sky Walk and Sky Line at the Mutaradzi Falls, Africa’s 2nd tallest waterfall. The next day cross the Pungwe Bridge into Nyanga National Park for a spectacular mountain drive. Pull over for a picnic where the guys camped out for the night.
Highlands House, Harare
Return to Harare. Venture into the city, as Jeremy described “Harare – wow, what a singing, melting pot of busyness and joy” before a return to Highlands House, also featured in the show.
Zambezi Expeditions
Early start to the iconic Mana Pools for a big game safari in one of Africa’s most beautiful national parks. With a pit stop at Lion’s Den, where the guys stopped. The next three days in an authentic tented safari camp with expert guides, in their open air safari vehicles. Your camp is on the beautiful Zambezi River, home to penty a hippo and crodiles, to compliment the bountiful wildlife on land, from lions to wild dogs to elephants that can stand on their back legs. Some bush driving required into and out of the park.
Hornbill Lodge, Kariba
Final morning safari before departing Mana Pools for Kariba, home of the fishing boat scenes seen in the show. Relax and enjoy a famous Kariba sundowner before settling down to local caught fish and chips. Optional afternoon fishing trip and tour of the Kariba Dam.
Kariba Ferries
Take a break from driving and load your vehicle on the one and only Kariba Ferries, where you will traverse the 200km lenght of scenic Lake Kariba, the world’s largest manmade lake. Spot wildlife from the shores and sleep out under the stars on the top deck to take in the views.
Shongwe Lookout
Reunite with your vehicle and travel through peaceful, rural countryside with lots of smiling faces to greet you. Continue northwest to the charming tourist town of Victoria Falls, for the grand finale! The next day hit the highlights featured on the show, including a sunrise tour of the iconic Victoria Falls Bridge, walking tour of the waterfalls, one of the Wonders of the World, and a visit to the historic Victoria Falls Hotel. Big farewell to Zimbawe with a sunset cruise on your final night and have one last for the road…
